How to read your letter
Read it once. Then again. Then aloud.
Every envelope is built for three passes. Take them over a fortnight, in any order that suits you — there is no homework and nothing to keep up with.
First pass
Première
Just read and enjoy
Read the letter front to back without stopping. Let the story carry you and let the unfamiliar words stay unfamiliar — following what happens matters more than understanding every line.
Second pass
Deuxième
Highlight and look words up
Go back with a pen. Mark what you did not recognise, check the glossary printed alongside the chapter, and look up whatever it leaves out. Write the words in the margin where you met them.
Third pass
Troisième
Listen, then read aloud
Scan the code on your art card and let a native speaker read the chapter to you. Follow along on the page, then read it aloud yourself until the rhythm of the sentences feels like your own.
